Rising star Hannah Platt has a rare talent for dark humour which is ironically an absolute joy. Her opening witticism laments the fact that her suicidal following limits the longevity of her audience numbers and so sets the tone for what is to come. She uses themes of depression, body dysmorphia, and suicide, creatively navigating these difficult subjects to hilarious effect, and is clearly adept at manipulating her audience with an entertaining blend of creative storytelling and observational humour, while keeping them teetering on the edge of discomfort – something she obviously relishes. Yet to debut, Platt is building a significant presence on the circuit, and is positioned high on this reviewer’s one-to-watch list
