Marjolein Robertson: O
The Hive, Edinburgh
Where their 2023 show ‘Marj’ was about the body, ‘O’ is about the mind and Robertson follows the format of weaving a Shetland folk tale into a another frank and powerful revelation about herself. While it could be argued that ‘O’ did not have the impact of ‘Marj’, as an extension of that show it certainly stepped up the theatrics and Robertson was no less compelling a storyteller. Frankly an hour wasn’t enough.

Robertson is a delight as a storyteller and a very funny comic. This show is in its embryonic stage and we saw very little of what we were told the show would be about. What we did see however, was very funny and entertaining.

13th August, 2023
Marjolein Robertson: Marj
The Stand, Edinburgh
Although Robertson has been performing Edinburgh hours for a few years, you would be forgiven for thinking this was their debut. Reviews of previous shows do not reflect the talented, compelling storyteller of today, who held the room in the palm of her hand as she wove a deeply personal tale with a folk story of her Shetland home. It was hilarious, powerful and stunning.
