It’s that time again and here are my personal recommendations for twelve shows you should definitely prioritise at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

Alice-India: See You In Hell
Alice-India asks if she is evil or adorable or both in her debut hour discussing good and evil, her arrest, and the inevitable ADHD and Autism.

Anna Hale: Control Freak
In a fantastic hour showcasing her undeniable vocal talent and narrative whimsy, Anna Hale is losing control to her social awkwardness and emetophobia. Musical Comedy Awards finalist 2024 & 2025.

Bennet Kavanagh: Crank Up the Volume!! (To a Reasonable Volume)
Multi award-winning musical comedian Bennet Kavanagh presents his debut Fringe hour of stand-up and uniquely charming songs.

Candace Bryan: MILF (Mom I’d Like to Find)
The funny and forthright US comic Candace Bryan tackles a crisis of personal identity in her first Fringe hour, with a show about her toxic masculinity, hedonism and mummy issues.

How to Kill a Mouse
Scientist Alex Berr reconciles a life of studying rare brain cancer with a personal loss to that same disease, and the mice we lost along the way. BBC New Comedy Awards 2024 nominee.

Dirty Work
Jessica Barton of École Philippe Gaulier presents Mary Floppins, who is here to teach us about household management with ‘a spoonful of song, dance, clowning and deep cleaning’. Best Newcomer Award Winner at Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2025.

Kayleigh Jones: I Fed My Dad to a Pelican

Love Hunt
Gaulier and Le Coq trained clown and character comedian Charlie Mulliner, debuts in Edinburgh as Amber, who is taking control of her love life. Join her as she encounters a cast of quirky characters on her journey across the universe. Best New Show nominee at the 2025 Brighton Fringe.

The Mayor and His Daughter: A Genuine Appreciation of Comedy
In fantastic alt-comedy debut, the Mayor and his daughter are in trouble as their village faces modernity and possible demons. They discover a boxset of Russell Howard’s Good News (Series 2) and decide to use comedy to heal their community. Leicester Comedy Award Best Debut nominees 2025.

Soft Play: Just the Two of Us
Maria Telnikoff and Vidya Divakaran are alt-comedy duo Soft Play, bringing their hit double act to the Fringe in a debut where they hope to portray every double act in history, with puppets, clown and dance.

Steffan Alun: Stand Up
After more than a decade of specifically and deliberately doing less than an hour every year, Steffan Alun is finally making his formal debut. The Fringe stalwart talks about all things identity, sexuality and Wales.

Thanyia Moore: August
Moore presents her powerful debut hour about the debut hour that didn’t happen. This show was a Leicester Comedy Festival Best Show nominee 2024.
